Halfway mark. Has your perspective changed yet?

Standard

Welcome to our daily challenge! Wait! Don’t go away!! Read here to get caught up on what’s going on. (And  coming in in the middle is totally cool.)

Day: 15

Objective: gift/trash/sell/donate fifteen objects.

Definition of “space”: The reason you fell in love with your house and moved there. Little did you realize, at the time that they made the tenants move half their stuff out of there so it would look like there was space. If you tried to sell your house today you’d have to do the same thing. Pretend you’re looking at and falling in love with your home all over again and give yourself the space you love all the time!

Reason: Stubbing your toe hurts. You want less chances of stubbing a toe.

Suggestion: We are halfway through the month and, wouldn’t you know, we’ve never even stepped foot in the kitchen yet?!

I bet you can get 15 items from your utensil drawer alone. You may have to make use of some of your inspiration you’ve built up so far. If you need to, go back through these posts and read all of the reasons you want to do this challenge.

Now, I challenge you. Can you live without an ice cream scooper? (I think a spoon works just fine in ice cream.) How about that potato masher? (I use my meat tenderizer mallet.) How many slotted spoons will you use in one meal? (One wooden and one plastic one works fine here.) How about that pie server? (You may discover that a fork works just as well.)

I’m challenging you a little more than normal but we’re on a roll here and this is a good place to push and see where the line really is. Worst case scenario is that you realize that you really find that you need that one utensil and you’re willing to give up the extra space to store it. Then you go to the store and buy a new one—exactly as you want it. In your need you’ll discover exactly what features you desire and can make a truly informed decision.

I’m not big on buying often; but if you truly have a need then go ahead. I can almost guarantee that your shopping experiences will never be the same after this decluttering process. There will be much more purpose behind ever dollar.
